Technical Capture Manager (Defence and National Security)
At Hadean, we are building the next generation of defence technology. As a key player in the UK’s defence tech ecosystem, our world-leading software is trusted by defence organisations and militaries worldwide.
We specialise in AI-powered digital wargaming and Command & Control systems that help users understand complexity, make better decisions, and operate at scale. Joining Hadean means working on technology with real-world impact, alongside a team that is driven to push the limits of what’s possible.
The Role
As Technical Capture Manager, you will be specifically responsible for owning and delivering the technical content of Hadean's defence bids and proposals. You translate Hadean's technology capabilities into compelling, compliant technical solutions that win contracts and enhance the outputs of our defence clients.
You understand defence programmes, operational requirements and systems integration. You know how to position software capabilities within wider defence architectures, communicate in language that resonates with military, UK MOD, US DOW and NATO evaluators, and work at pace to deliver winning submissions.
You'll work closely with Field Engineering, Sales, Product, Engineering and the Capture Team to shape solutions, author technical volumes, and ensure our submissions demonstrate both capability and credibility.
About You
You are both a solutions architect and a communicator. You understand Hadean's product roadmap better than anyone, can articulate how our technology solves operational problems, and know how to write technical content that defence evaluators want to read. You're proactive, deadline-driven and comfortable managing multiple stakeholders under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Solution Design & Articulation
Own the technical narrative for bids - translating Hadean's capabilities into solutions that address customer requirements
Communicate how Hadean's technology integrates into wider federated simulations (C2 systems, communications protocols, information exchange standards)
Articulate product roadmap and capability evolution in the context of multi-year programmes
Work with Product and Engineering teams to validate technical approaches and identify capability gaps
Proposal Development & Writing
Author technical volumes, solution descriptions, method statements and capability matrices
Write in clear, defence-appropriate language that evaluators understand - referencing relevant standards, frameworks and operational concepts
Ensure technical content is compliant, compelling and aligned with evaluation criteria
Maintain quality and consistency across multiple concurrent bids
Stakeholder Management & Coordination
Act as the technical interface and coordinator between the Capture Team, Product and Field Engineering
Identify and deploy the right subject matter experts at the right time
Coordinate technical reviews, win themes and discriminators with Sales and bid leadership
Manage internal dependencies and keep technical workstreams on track
Bid Strategy & Go/No-Go Support
Contribute technical insight to bid strategy and go/no-go decisions
Identify technical risks, dependencies and resourcing requirements early
Support customer engagement and clarification activities where technical credibility is required
Experience Required
Defence background with operational or capability development experience, ideally with exposure to J6
Understanding of defence systems integration, C2 architectures and information exchange standards
Experience contributing to or reviewing defence procurement submissions (competitive bids, capability demonstrations, technical assessments)
Understanding of software and networking capabilities, delivery models and technology roadmaps - you don't need to be an engineer, but you need to understand what software can and cannot do
Demonstrable experience in roles requiring solutions thinking rather than pure technical delivery
Skills Required
Strong technical writing ability - clear, concise and structured for defence audiences
Excellent leadership, management and internal coordination
Proactive, deadline-driven approach with strong prioritisation and time management
Comfortable operating under pressure and managing competing demands across multiple bids
Credible communicator who can engage across all levels from engineers to executives
High attention to detail with pragmatic problem-solving mindset
Ability to work independently while knowing when to bring in specialist support
